THE CULTURAL OLYMPIAD & LONDON 2012 OPEN WEEKEND

The Olympic and Paralympic Games are about more than sport. The Cultural Olympiad is part of the London 2012 Games - a series of events to showcase the UK's arts and culture to the rest of the world.

Sheffield will ensure that sporting activity embraces other cultural activities including dance, art, music and museums.

The London 2012 Open Weekend for 2011 will take place from 22 - 24 July 2011. Please click the link to the left for more information as and when activities are confirmed.

Open Weekend 2010 took place on 23-25 July - starting the countdown to two years to go to the Games.

 

More than 975 events were staged across the UK  ranging from sport to art, and from dance to exhibitions and 21 of them were held in Sheffield. Each event featured a special challenge, and gave visitors the chance to try something new or take an existing skill to a new level.

What is the London 2012 Open Weekend?
It's an annual UK-wide celebration counting down to the Olympic and Paralympic Games. During the weekend there will be a range of activities from hundreds of organisations including culture and sport, taking place across the country and across Sheffield!
